Arrogance or stupidity,
your call!
Below is a copy of an
email I sent to Customerfirst@sunocoinc.com
back in April of 06. I never received a reply to this or a follow up email. Want
proof of big oil's arrogance?
Check this out.
Hello,
My name is Robb, and I feel I need to tell
you about a problem you have in your Ambridge, PA A Plus.
Before I start, a little background. When I
started to drive some 32 years ago, there was a Sunoco station at the end of my
street. I always got gasoline there, and when I moved, one of the first things I
did was to locate the nearest Sunoco station. So, when I moved to the Ambridge
area six years ago, I was glad to see an A Plus in the immediate vicinity.
Unfortunately however, I was dismayed to
find that the person running that location was to say the least, a completely
unfriendly individual. Nearly every time I have had contact with this so-called
"manager", she has given me a new reason to not come back. But, I continued to
return since it was the only Sunoco between here and Beaver Falls, and I
felt that you folks made the best gasoline. Then, I started to notice that
the poor attitude of the manager seemed to infect the rest of the employees.
Every time I came into the store for something, (not really often, since I
normally pay at the pump) someone working there seemed to have a problem with my
presence there. And for 6 years, I passed it off as just the employees having a
bit of a bad day. And I noticed that after the closure and tearing down of the
BP station across the street that this happened even more often.
So, a couple of weeks ago, when
I was going
out the door to do some errands, my wife asked me to stop at the A Plus
and cash in a Powerball ticket she had gotten a three or four dollar winner on.
So, as I was finishing my errands, I stopped at the Ambridge A Plus. The
"manager" was working the lottery machine and I handed her the ticket. She ran
it through the machine, and asked if there was anything else. I told her no, and
then she looked me dead in the eye, and with a disgusted scowl on her face
shook her head at me. As I was walking out the door I said to her, " I don't
know why I continue to come in here, every time I do you give me a new reason
not to." By the time I reached the car, I decided that I had enough. When I got
home I told my wife what happened, and she suggested that I write you, but I
thought I should wait a bit so that I could calm down a bit. And so, here I am
writing to you in the hopes that someone there cares enough about their
customers to effect a change in attitude at my local Sunoco.
Now with the way gas prices are these days,
I would think that service would be of paramount importance to Sunoco. Let's be
honest here, I have gone to other gas stations in that last few weeks, and found
the quality of Sheetz's gas to be as good as yours. The Sheetz may be not be as
close to me as your Ambridge location, but at least they treat me with respect.
And I'm not even going to talk about the fuel perks at the
GetGo!
In conclusion, I had been a loyal Sunoco
customer for many, many years, and the actions of a few individuals at one
location has changed that. I hope that as your email address indicates, the
customers are an important priority.
Please fix this!
Thank You.
There was no reply, and I
haven't been back there since. Now, I'm not gonna tell you to stop getting gas
at Sunoco because of something that happened to me, and lets be honest here,
Sunoco is not gonna miss my money. But I'm not going to give these jerkoffs
my hard-earned cash and take crap from them, too!
